Architectural Model Specification
Architectural Models vary
tremendously depending on who you use and the techniques
they adopt. With this page we will explain a little about
the construction methods we use, in order to achieve the
architectural model displays we make. However, in saying
that we are not going to explain actual techniques because
many are our own pioneering developments, which we like
to keep confidential.
Type of model
In order to select the type of model
you would need, we consider the objectives required of the
display and ‘shape’ a model proposal best suited
to achieve your objectives.Things we would consider are:-
scale, level of detail, type of model, internals, electrics,
budgets and so on.
Specifications
Our main aim when constructing an architectural
model is to make it realistic as possible recreating textures,
bricks and all details as far as the scale will allow.

Planting
Planting is very important and done well
will transform the whole look of you architectural model
display and effectively bring it to life.

Special features, cars
and people
When there are special features that
would aid the marketing of a development such as parks,
rivers, recreational facilities etc, we pay particular attention
to these and make them in great detail. This has the effect
of giving customers the illusion of the quality of ‘life
style’ they would enjoy should they invest in your
development.
Once the model is completed we
add cars and people. Although a simple task you may think,
we place our cars and people with purpose, in this we mean
not just anywhere, if you look at our models it actually
looks like something going on adding a degree of action/animation
to the display, all adding to the overall effect of the
model presentation.

Lighting
On some projects, the requirement is to include lighting.
This can be done in a variety of ways depending on the actual
purpose for the lighting. Some models are just required
to light up for an asthetic purpose and other models require
the lighting to be an indicator. The indicator lighting
technique is usually adopted for residential apartment models
to
show the actual location of the apartment within the development.
A switch on the edge of the model is pressed which in turn
illuminates the associated apartment.

Fine details
When we make our windows and doors, railing, tables and
chairs and anything that requires fine detailing, we do
this by photo-etching it into brass. This allows us to attain
incredible detail which is very important in our style of
model making.

This page is just a brief insight
into our model making techniques, to give you some idea
of what goes into our architectural models. There are many
more processes that we use to gain the desired results using
our metal and resin casting facilities not to mention our
fully equiped model making studio.
